Overwhelmed

Life can get stressful. It happens. You may feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. You may be waiting for it all to come crashing down and fall apart at your feet. It is easy to get wrapped up in all that is going wrong in our lives. It is easy to focus on a problem and make it seem bigger than it is in reality.

It’s all about perspective. If you look at a molehill from an inch away, it looks like a mountain. But, if you look at it from a foot away, you can see that it is actually very small compared to you, and certainly compared to a mountain. When you zoom in on your problems, they can appear more severe than they actually are. They will weigh you down and hurt your confidence. Instead, try looking at the “problem” from God’s point of view. We serve a HUGE God, so in order to see it from His perspective, we need to zoom way out. When we do this, we realize that our issue is temporary, carnal, and nothing to worry about. Why worry about something that He has already conquered? When you start to feel overwhelmed, remember these four key things:

1. Don’t flatter yourself: The weight of the world is not on your shoulders, Jesus already took the role as Savior of the world. You don’t have to worry about it because it is already taken care of!

2. Zoom out on the problem: Nothing in this world will last forever. Nothing is too great for God to handle. Focus on eternity instead of only on the here and now

3. Speak life: When you’re in a tough spot, it is easy to feel down and talk about everything you feel is wrong with your life. But, this is the opposite of what we should do. Speaking negative things over our life only sets the expectation that more negative things are to come and opens the door for the enemy to rush in like a flood. In your toughest hours, try being grateful for everything that is good in your life and worshiping God. In all times, declare that it is well, and it will be. Changing your heart can change your situation.

4. Speak to your mountain: Don’t speak about your mountain, speak TO it. Rather, command it. Don’t let a mountain tell you what to do. Command that mountain to move in the name of Jesus Christ and believe that it is done! He gave us the power and authority to move mountains in His name, and too often it goes unused.

Don’t let the struggles of life get you down. Focus on what the problem actually is, a molehill. Use the power in the name of Jesus to change your situation right now!

  1. This is a very uplifting post. I always call out to God, whether it is to give thanks or to ask for a blessing. God is a loving and forgiving God, and He is bigger than any obstacle. We must learn to trust Him and His wisdom.
